🎐 Local features seen by our Asian Underwriters

Third meeting with The Reinsurance Tutorials, episode #3 - Season 4

Hi everybody 👋

Today is the launch of the 3rd episode of the Reinsurance Tutorials season 4!

We will talk about "Local features seen by our Asian Underwriters".

This topic will be addressed by our Arundo Re experts  Yang DU, Ning Jing LIU and Hoang Anh NGUYEN.

Let’s start!

[Yang ]: Hello, Yang Du here.

I came to France to study in 2008, specializing in actuarial science. Since graduating, I have been working in the reinsurance industry. I am from Wuhan, China. Previously, when I talked to foreign friends about Wuhan, they always asked me where it was. However, since COVID-19, no one has asked me that question again!

During the COVID-19 years, our team played a little game where each person would share three things they did: two were true and one was false. Other colleagues had to guess which one was made up.

The false thing I claimed was: "I've tasted bat soup in Wuhan." I ended up winning because everyone believed it was true. But believe me, I have never heard of bat soup in China in my life!

[Ning Jing]: I’m Ning Jing Liu. I’ve been living in France for 20 years and followed a similar path to Yang’s. I studied actuarial science and discovered the reinsurance sector early on, which I loved and have never left.

I’m from Changsha, Hunan, a cultural city with more than 3,000 years of history that has left an indelible mark in my heart. There’s the picturesque Yuelu Mountain, where the Yuelu Academy, one of the oldest learning institutions, has nurtured countless scholars and poets. The Xiangjiang River flows through the city like a jade belt, adding an infinite charm of water towns. And Orange Island, as Changsha’s star attraction, attracts countless tourists with charming river views and deep cultural heritage.

But what I cannot imagine living without is Changsha's irresistibly delicious cuisine.

[Hoang Anh]: Hello, Hoang Anh Nguyen, from Vietnam.

In major cities, the traffic is awful. You might ask yourself: “How do I cross the road in Hanoi?” The answer is, you only get one shot : breathe, put your hands in the air, pay close attention and start crossing the street. That way, you will soon cross the busy streets like a pro.
